For, while the Black Blade no longer harbored the Kami they sought, the spirit lived on inside the mind of its wielder, and after all, what better way to lure out this perpetrator than with his very own kin? Trust, to the Nightmare Council, was but a tool— a fragile connection most easily manipulated— and once broken, nearly impossible to repair. While it was true that Kigiri would approach Yuri, it was done in secret, at the edges of their respective paths, neither as friend nor enemy, but perhaps something more complex. Their exchanges were brief and wordless, yet she sensed that her presence offered him a balm to his turmoil, her voice reaching out to the Kami within him, calming its fury even as it threatened to consume his soul.
