Holylight Acolyte

"Rich or poor. Hale or ill. All are welcome to take shelter in the Holylight." - Common Hymn of the Holylight Throughout Tya, temples of the Holylight provide followers and nonbelievers alike with a place of rest and recuperation. But for some followers of the Holylight, service to the church itself serves as a form of healing. Laudine is one such troubled soul. Laudine joined the church only two years ago, but her reputation is well known. Visitors from neighboring villages have been known to travel for days by foot to receive her meticulous care. Acolytes are not prone to gossip, but word spreads fast even in a pious community. And the mysterious Laudine is a subject of much speculation. It is believed that she was once a scholar of the White Tower. Her skill, meticulous notes, and aged collection of aged textbooks suggest that she spent years studying the healing arts. But what could drive a talented healer to abandon the White Tower for a provincial life? The rumors range from salacious stories of forbidden romance and medical malpractice to whispers that the acolyte's very soul was blessed by the Holylight. The truth, however, is quite simple. Having grown up in a small rural, Laudine leapt at the opportunity to study at the White Tower when her magical prowess earned her an invitation. But the only things she found at the imposing institution were loneliness and frustration. She held little interest in theories and cared only to practice her healing arts on those in need. In the end, she abandoned academia. Though she knows well the rumors that swirl around her, Laudine merely finds them amusing. Her only greatest goal is to heal those around her. Even gossip, she supposes, is healing in its own way.
