"I'll see you again... brother." -Hiroto In a garden long-wilted next to a castle by the sea kneels a figure, statue-still, his curved sword across his knees. In the half-dark of dusk, he listens in silence. He does not hear the tired sigh of the ocean, nor the nightingale nesting in a nearby copse. He listens to the wind, which whispers to him the names of those he has silenced… the names of those that he will. There is an invisible war raging within Kigiri, the Undying Ronin, and it began long ago. A stalwart of a remote warrior society located on an island off the far eastern shores of Tya, Kigiri was entrusted with a sacred duty passed down through generations before him: to safeguard a relic of immense power — a katana shackling a chaotic spirit from the Infernal Volcano — from which they drew strength through offerings. The burden was not Kigiri's alone to bear for he, along with ten other elite warriors, comprised the indomitable Iron Eleven. For decades, the Iron Eleven defended the katana from all those who sought its power, standing resolute in a brotherhood forged in blood. Although isolated by sea, whispers of chaos spreading in Tya eventually found their way to the island's shores. One among the Eleven — Hiroto — believed the katana should be unsheathed to defend their fortress. Kigiri, who led the opposing view, was incensed by this proposal and refused to unshackle the spirit. Yet, as the whispers turned into a steady murmur, Hiroto could no longer stand by idly, and when it became clear that Kigiri would not relent, he turned to more forceful measures. First approached by outsiders, Hiroto struck a deal with the Nightmare Council, secretly inviting them to the fortress to help stage a mutiny through which he would seize leadership of the Eleven. But much had changed on the Tyan continent, and Hiroto was unwise to the ways of the world. Beguiled by the Blood Mother's charm, the deal had been a trap, and the resulting carnage that ensued left all of the Eleven dead… save for two. Stained with the blood of his sworn brothers, Kigiri managed to escape with the relic into the rust-colored plains surrounding the castle he had safeguarded for years. With a horde of forces in pursuit, Kigiri was left with little alternative, so the lone warrior plunged the katana into his own heart, vowing to safeguard the spirit with his own flesh. In doing so, Kigiri released the trapped Kami into his body where it bound to his soul in an instant, and after dropping to his knees, Kigiri's eyes suddenly blazed anew, rising again as the Undying Ronin, a half-demon with one singular conviction: Revenge. Tormented by the loss of his brothers and the betrayal of his oldest friend, Kigiri's anguish fuels his relentless pursuit of retribution. His soul, a battleground where human honor and infernal chaos wage eternal war, finds no peace. His katana, once a symbol of his noble duty, is now a stark reminder of his cursed fate. He walks a solitary path, forever at odds with himself and the identity he embodies. Yet, so long as Hiroto draws breath, this warrior maintains purpose.
