Born millennia ago in the Elven Kingdom, Duradel spent his hours reciting poetry in the lush shade of the mighty trees, escaping the golden sun, and enjoying the beauty of the silver nights. As his years passed in the service of the Elven King, guarding the borders of the land with his bow, he saw a beautiful Elven maiden illuminated by the magic of the moon. Enraptured by the sight of her, Duradel asked her for her name, and she answered Tristiel. They knew from the magic of that evening that they had found their soulmates and would spend their long Elven lives together. However, that life would be longer than either of them could have imagined for on one silvery evening, while Duradel was foraging, Tristiel was attacked by a strange humanoid that drew her blood. When Duradel returned, he found the humanoid looming over her, and before it noticed him, he slew it with his bow. A strange sickness soon fell on Tristiel and she sought the help of the Elven King, showing him the head of the strange humanoid. A silence fell on the court of the king when he announced it was a Vampire and that Tristiel had been doomed to such an existence, cursed by the gods, and would thus be banished beyond the Elven Kingdom before the bloodlust took her. Duradel chose to leave with Tristiel and begged her to transform him too so they could spend an eternity together. Tristiel refused at first but finally acquiesced and they spent many eons wandering Tya together before settling with fellow Vampires in Fullmoon City. Here, she noticed a change in Duradel as he twisted with hatred and anger at his banishment from his home. The guilt was too much for Tristiel and she threw herself off the highest peak in the Sanguis Mountains, leaving a note for Duradel. Since then, Duradel has grown even more twisted and hateful, cursing the happiness of mortals, and refusing to believe that Tristiel could have truly died. He continues to wander Tyra in the agony of the sun in search of his lost love and draining mortals of their blood with glee to sustain him on his quest.
