A guardian of the mysterious and gloomy ancient catacombs of Everlon, far beneath the eastern desert, Atrox is a ferocious Eternagon warrior unafraid of death, which is unsurprising considering Eternagons cannot truly die. Not only is his once mortal face hidden behind his helmet twisted and corrupted, Atrox's mind is broken, and his soul is a void. This makes him the ideal guardian for the cursed halls of Everlon, driven by a need to defend the enigmatic land from outsiders. While it is impossible to know much about Atrox as an individual prior to the distortion of his people into what they are now, an event that happened long ago known only as "the Change", it is possible to make an educated guess. In ancient times, Atrox, like most other Eternagon guardians, would have likely sworn an oath of fealty to the mysterious order of Priest-Kings that ruled the land before it was swallowed by the desert. Why the kingdom was submerged is a mystery, much like everything else related to the Eternagons, but it is commonly maintained that it all began when the Priest-Kings found a meteorite that gave them enormous power. Eternagon hieroglyphs say that this was a tear of the Moon-God and the Priest-Kings used it to make their kingdom rich and their dynasty immortal. However, the Eternagons were depraved in their power and driven mad by immortality, forcing the gods to bury them from the face of Tya… yet even the gods could not hide their power forever. Atrox's oath to the Priest-Kings has presumably continued long after the Change and has spread to a need to protect Everlon and its secrets from those who venture inside, whirling his mighty sword over his head to eliminate any who stand in his path. The markings on Atrox's armor indicate he was a member of the Order of the Desert Spider, likely a class of soldiers that launched frenzied suicide attacks in battle. For the ancient Eternagons, the desert spider was a symbol of fierce resilience and bravery, as they were known to fight even after losing one of their eight limbs. In a similar manner to the desert spider, a now-extinct species, Atrox rushes into battle with no fear of death, knowing he will soon be resurrected by the power of the Eternagon Priest-Kings should he fall – unlike the desert spider.
