Had Calypso heeded the Northern song's whisper, her journey might have led her to more gentle shores. In this version, guided by Marri's unwavering faith, Calypso lets go of envy and follows the enchanting melody's call—each note a promise of honor and rejuvenation. The further north she swims, the more her soul shimmers, until the dark weight of jealousy dissolves into the currents.
It is here that Calypso is spectacularly transformed by the sea's embrace. Her scales dazzle with shades of aquamarine, catching the sunlight like radiant crystals, while her hair has softened into the delicate hues of coral. It's as though the ocean itself has woven her into a living hymn of forgiveness and hope.
The Coral Serenade has become the heart of the northern tides, a voice of calm in the ocean's chaos. Side by side with Marri, she's turned her guiding song into a harmonious chorus of peace and tranquility.

Songs in the Deep
"There are worse things than monsters creeping beneath the waves."
-Sea Captain
Daughter of a Merfolk king, Calypso the Mindpiercer is as mysterious as the depths of the sea itself. Unlike most Merfolk, famously insular and suspicious of outsiders, she'd always been driven by a curiosity made more intense by arrogance and entitlement.
Due to her privileged position, Calypso felt she was too good to associate with other Merfolk. While exploring an outer reef, she met a peculiar human named Marri. As humans are rare beneath Tya's seas, Calypso was immediately intrigued, the two becoming fast friends. Born to different currents, the pair grew inseparable as they matured together beneath the waves.
Being that Marri had no family to speak of, Calypso introduced her to the Merfolk. Uncertain as to how she'd be received, Marri's fears were quickly assuaged as the Merfolk welcomed her warmly. Gloatingly, Calypso took every opportunity to show off her unique companion, until their friendship took a turn.
Though Marri never purposefully outdid Calypso, the Merfolk naturally gravitated toward her kind heart and gentle demeanor. Even Calypso's father began to view Marri as a second daughter- one whose manners were more befitting of a princess. The dagger came when she was selected to serve as a priestess of a sacred coral shrine- an honor Calypso was hoping to attain herself.
Sensing jealousy, Marri suggested a swim to where they first met, hoping to make amends. After traveling in silence, Calypso erupted- her anger and envy pouring out like a geyser. Taken aback, Marri attempted to respond when both were suddenly stopped in their tracks by the haunting melodies of two distinct songs- one from the northern seas, the other from the south.
They listened closely as the dueling songs furthered the rift between them. The stoic northern song sang of honor, duty, even sadness, while the enchanting yet eerie southern song promised power, domination, and glory. One might easily guess which song Calypso drifted toward; Try as she might, Marri could not dissuade her scorned friend from traveling south to find the source. It was the last time Calypso was seen… whole.
Twisted by the vile and deceitful southern song somewhere in the darkest depths, Calypso now serves an unknown entity of immense oceanic power, cursing her people and former friend, vying to enact revenge.
