"Bad time to be a demon with that lass around." -The Beast's Bane, Kai In the verdant woodlands of a tranquil village, a spirited girl came of age. Born to a humble family of skilled hunters, she inherited her father's keen eye and deft hands for archery from a tender age. She reveled in the wilderness, spending countless hours roaming the forest, honing her tracking skills and mastering the bow. Her name was Brienne, and her father likened to her a falcon. The nickname suited her well. One evening, as dusk draped its cloak over the village, a sinister presence crept through the woods. It was a demon of grotesque proportions, its form twisted by shadows it brandished like knives. Eyes aglow, it descended upon Brienne's home, and what she witnessed that night would haunt her for eternity. The demon's twisted visage, its claws rending through flesh and bone with merciless precision, crashed into the depths of her subconscious. She watched helplessly as her parents, pillars of strength and love, surrendered their very souls as their screams echoed in the stillness of the night. Brienne's grief was compounded by a grim reality: she was robbed of her sight, her eyes forever cloaked in darkness. Yet, amidst the ashes of her shattered innocence, a fierce resolve ignited within. Fueled by grief and righteous fury, she swore an oath of vengeance upon the creature that had torn her family asunder. The way forward was ripe with pain, physical and otherwise. Determined to transcend her limitations, she had a metallic band crafted that encircled her eyes, symbolizing her unwavering resolve to confront the darkness that consumed her world. Armed with an unyielding spirit forged in the crucible of grief, she took up her father's bow and began honing her remaining senses. Brienne learned much of demons in the coming days—how to track them, lure them, and kill them. When at last she tracked the one responsible for her anguish, she felt a surge of primal rage drown out any whispers of doubt. With her father's bow drawn taut and her senses keenly attuned to the demon's presence, Brienne unleashed a volley of blessed arrows with unerring precision. Each shaft found its mark, piercing the abomination with righteous fury until it lay twitching at her feet, relinquishing every soul it had ever pilfered, her parents' among them. Even as she stood triumphant amidst the wreckage of her nemesis, Brienne knew that her battles were far from over. She pledged that night to hunt down every last demon that dare threaten the innocent, ensuring that no other soul would suffer at their crooked hands.
